Guardian Home Program

Give a top-quality Frenchie a loving home—become part of the North Carolina Frenchies family.

What Is a Guardian Home?

Our Guardian Home Program is a unique partnership between North Carolina Frenchies and select families who share our commitment to the breed. A Guardian family provides a forever home for one of our top-quality French Bulldogs—chosen specifically for our program—while we retain breeding rights for a set period of time.

For the Guardian family, this means welcoming a world-class Frenchie into your home as your pet, with all the love, attention, and everyday care that entails. For us, it ensures our breeding dogs live as cherished companions, not kennel dogs. Once your Frenchie’s breeding career is complete, full ownership is permanently transferred to you.

Why We Offer This Program

We believe every Frenchie deserves a home where they are the center of attention. Our Guardian Program allows us to expand responsibly, while making sure each of our breeding dogs enjoys a rich family life.

It also means Guardian families get the opportunity to raise some of our most elite Frenchies—often the picks we’d otherwise keep ourselves. These dogs carry exceptional genetics, health, and structure, and we want them to thrive in a loving home environment from the very start.

How It Works

  • Adoption Fee: $2,500
This fee ensures commitment and reflects the elite quality of our French Bulldogs, which typically sell for $5,500–$10,000+. It helps us filter for families who are ready for the responsibility and excited to join our program.

  • Placement Timing: Puppies are typically placed at 8–12 weeks of age, though we occasionally offer adults or retired dogs.

  • Ongoing Relationship: We stay in touch regularly and require 2–3 in-person visits per year to check in, complete health testing, and maintain a strong bond.

  • Breeding Costs: All breeding, health testing, and show-related expenses are covered by North Carolina Frenchies.

  • Ownership Transfer: Once the dog completes its breeding career—typically after 2–3 litters for females or up to 8 years old for males—full ownership is transferred to the Guardian family.

  • Guardian Family Option: Guardian families may choose one puppy from the dog’s first litter as part of their participation in the program, or receive a $150 per puppy per litter payment for each litter produced.

Responsibilities of Guardian Families

  • Provide everyday care: food, training, regular vet visits, grooming, and emergency vet care if needed.

  • Stay in regular contact with North Carolina Frenchies.

  • Ensure a safe environment.

  • Notify us of major life changes, especially relocation.

  • Make your dog available for breeding, health testing, and whelping as needed.

Breeding Expectations

Male Dogs

  • Breeding typically starts around 1 year old.

  • We’ll coordinate pickups for 3–5 day stays when needed.

  • Males may be used for up to 8 years depending on health and demand.

Female Dogs

  • Breeding usually begins around the second heat cycle (approx. 12–15 months).

  • She’ll stay with us for a week during breeding and return home afterward.

  • Around 52 days post-mating, she returns to whelp and raise her litter.

  • You’re welcome to visit her and the puppies during this time.
